What is Marketing Communications?

By definition, the concept of marketing is the commercial processes involved in promoting, selling and distributing a product or service. Therefore, marketing communications (also referred to as MarComm) is the process of effectively communicating product information or ideas to a target audience. (Side Note: I refer to product as goods, services, or ideas.)

Marketing communications include such tools as direct mail postcards, brochures, business cards, websites, radio advertising, and television advertising to name just a few tools. In all actuality, price, the product itself, and it’s distribution  all communicate market information to the target audience. And let’s not forget social media sites; Not quite the same as your website, but a powerful marketing communications tool every marketer should use in their marketing mix.

There’s quite a bit to cover under the topic of Marketing Communications. The marketing commutations blog will focus on providing insightful information on MarComm and how to implement it in your business. The next part in this four part series will cover the five factors found in all marketing communications: persuasion, objectives, contact points, stakeholders, marketing communication activities.
