Have you ever received a direct mail piece and attached to it was a sample of the product the advertisement was offering? This is know as sample marketing. According to a recent
study found in “Deliver” magazine and conducted by the Opinion Research Corp, sample marketing has a lot of clout when it comes to getting the attention of it’s target market. Below are some findings from the research.

  • 81% surveyed said they would try a product after they received a free sample
  • 61% said that an actual product is the most effective way for a brand to get them to try a new product
  • 65% said they preferred to have samples mailed to their home
  • 72% would prefer to receive multiple samples in a single sample box
  • 89% said that including a coupon would increase the value of a mailed sample box
  • 84% said that they would likely log onto a Web site and sign up to receive samples if they received a post card from the USPS driving them to the site
