It sounds counter productive for me to offer ways of getting free images of your marketing collateral since I am a contributor of stock photo images for profit at iStockphoto.com. However, being a marketing communications expert and realizing that not everyone has the budget for paid stock photography, I wanted to share a few sources where you can download, for FREE, royalty free stock images for use in your marketing material.

Some sources are:

• iStockphoto.com – Sign up for free and you can download quality images. They offer a Free image of the week. They are nice and of good quality.
• Dreamstime – You will need to sign up for the free account. No payment or credit card required.
• Freedigitalphotos.net – You will be able to download small web sized images, not just comps.
• Big Stock Photo – They have a section for images that don’t make the paid cut, you can download for free. Again, free registration is required.
• Stock Xchng – They have a large selection of small to mid sized images for Free. Sign up is required.

In the end, if you don’t want a “cookie cutter” look where you will be sharing the same image with thousands of other users and prefer a more custom approach, you can always hire a professional photographer to create the imagery your marketing material requires.
