As marketers, sometimes, we’re blinded by strategy or creativity and leave out the legal aspects that can affect our marketing efforts. We forget that every aspect of the marketing mix is subject to laws and restrictions. It is our responsibility, and those that work with us in our marketing departments, to have an understanding of the laws that can affect marketing as well as those laws that protect consumers. If we don’t, we can end up paying a hefty price in legal fee’s as well as loss of company revenues, reputation, and perhaps your job.
Below is a list of both U.S. federal legislation that affect marketers as well as primary laws that protect consumers. These marketing laws and regulations are specific for the U.S. only.
